India is an incredibly colorful country with innumerable people representing different states, cultures and languages. Its a treat to your eyes viewing the way festivals are celebrated across the nation. The country’s culture is its beauty that attracts tourists from all over the world. All of it has a major association with one common thing- Worship to God. Indians love to pray, and they do it with immense enthusiasm. There is light, colors, prayers, music and beautiful outfits that adds to the charm of prayers. All our festivals celebrated with pomp is nothing but offerings to the GOD. Having said that and being an Indian myself, I always ponder over one question- Despite having strong faith in God, why is humanity declining in our country making it unsafe for women to roam on streets freely?

The count to rape cases, eve teasing, molestation and physical/verbal abuse against women is increasing with every passage of day. Despite sex education and literacy getting more accessible to individuals, the rate of crimes making women its victim are shockingly rising to levels that cannot be thought of. Now whats even annoying is the response coming from our male dominant society which very easily blames girl(s) who are now more “empowered”. They define the cause to be their choice of attiring themselves with western outfits. Men are born with right to expose their body parts — Even a Pandit (priest for Hindus)is seen shirtless wearing a piece of cloth wrapped around his waist to cover his lower body. But if a woman wears body hugging clothes, sleeveless tops and flaunts her waist, it becomes crime of the century.

It’s interesting how her private body parts are addressed in relation to objects like Khooli Tijori (an open locker) which can be easily robbed if she moves around in the open and not dress as per “societal norms”. Men claim to lose control seeing the revealing bit hence disapprove of their clothing. Why do we even need their acceptance? Don’t we have a choice of living the way we are comfortable in? Are these men not aware their exposed broad shoulders, bulky muscles and 6 pack abs which they stylishly reveal equally gives us butterflies? Is it only a man’s right to have erection and not a woman’s right to get orgasm? If covering the body organ that turns you on is the deal, I better recommend some men to cover their faces when found around me as their jaw-line kills me.

This gender blessed with stubble want to rule in bed, in family, at workplace and on streets. They do it because we, the women let them do it. Let’s not completely abuse them and equally take credit for the blame.

Are women even aware it’s easier to diffuse male sexual instincts than the amount of energy they spend in raping a woman? Disclaimer: I am not promoting violence or revenge, but just sharing an important piece of information for every woman who feels insecure about being victim of any of the crimes by men to them. Two forceful taps of your legs below their belt can actually make them faint. That is the strength you are born with and they are not. Instead, a serious push through knee with great energy would give you even better results. So let’s be known of our rights and power. Wake up. Do as your mind speaks and most importantly, not harm the opposite gender unnecessarily! 👊
